The Community of St Frideswide is a network of prayer and mission communities around the city of Oxford with a vision to be part of the equipping and renewal of the life of prayer and mission of the Church, especially (but not exclusively!) among young adults. Inspired by the renewal movements which have grown out of this city over the centuries, and by the missional imperative of the first Christians in Oxford over a thousand years ago, we seek deeper lives of prayer and more adventurous lives of mission.
We are in partnership with parishes and chaplaincies from the Oxford and Cowley deaneries, and have the generous support and encouragement of the Anglican traditional religious orders based in the Oxford area. We are seeking a way of life which draws on disciplines of prayer from a wide range of Christian traditions, and community members are supported by spiritual direction, regular retreats and outstanding input. Through our partnerships with other ministries in our city, we will serve some of our most vulnerable neighbours, and grow in mission and ministry in our local parish and chaplaincy contexts.
The full-time community is open to applications from people aged 20-35 to join starting in September 2019. This is a one year commitment. The other expressions have a variety of time commitment periods, and also are open to people of a variety of different ages and life situations. We always love to hear from people who would like to know more, so do get in touch with us for a very informal conversation.
